5 Cool Things You Might Not Know OVB Has

Ohio Valley Bank is a community bank.  We offer a small town vibe with small town customer service.  Your neighbor down the street could be the one taking your deposit, and that is part of what makes community banks great.  However, that doesn’t mean we can slack on bringing you the best in technology, convenience and useful products.  Even our best customers might miss out on something we release from time to time, so today I’m going to talk about a few of those things you may have missed.

Money Island & The Centsables

One thing all kids (and I) have in common is the love of playing games.  That’s why we offer Money Island.  Money Island is an online, virtual world where kids can log into a safe environment, play games, build a virtual home and learn how to be financially sound.  Check out the story of Stone Broke in the video below.

The Centsables are a group of superheroes that help kids overcome obstacles, soar toward goals and achieve financial fitness!  On the Centsables page, you can find lessons, comics, games, activities and videos.  Check out the Centsables for a fun way to teach your kids about money.

Online Account Opening

Let’s face it, sometimes we are either too busy, or too lazy to come into the bank.  Wouldn’t it be nice if you could open up a new account from the comfort of your own home?  With OVB’s online account opening, you can!  While you can’t open every account OVB offers online, we currently allow customers to apply for credit cards, home equity loans, personal loans, vehicle loans, Easy Checking, OVB Rewards, Honors Checking and savings accounts online.

Mobile Banking

Lots of banks have mobile banking, and it’s not exactly unknown to most people. What you might not have known is how robust OVB’s mobile banking solution is.

  • We have apps for both iPhone and Android, plus a mobile version of CellTeller that can be accessed from any mobile browser on devices such as Windows Phone and Blackberry.
  • We have text message banking, which allows you to get your balance and recent transaction history sent to your mobile phone as a text.
  • We have a great, fully mobile-optimized website that can be accessed from any smart phone browser at www.ovbc.com.
  • Lastly, we have a few things in the pipeline for mobile that are really cool, but I can’t say too much about that…yet.

Budget Buddy

We post a lot of content on our various social media outlets about the importance of budgeting. Thankfully, we also offer a tool to help you with this task.  When you log into NetTeller online banking and look at the menu at the top of the page, you will see the icon shown below and the words, Budget Buddy.

budgetbuddy

Inside Budget Buddy you can:

  • Get a snapshot of your current financial status in the dashboard.
  • Pull information from not only your OVB accounts, but accounts with other institutions as well.
  • Put your transactions into categories such as Entertainment, Gas, Business, etc.
  • Set up a budget using the previous three months of transaction activity, or based upon demographics.
  • Add financial goals.
  • Set email alerts for things like transaction amounts, merchant types & budget threshold.

Budget Buddy is an excellent tool you can use to get a picture of your finances and help bring things into order.

Rewards Accounts

Lastly, with OVB you can get paid to use your accounts.  With an OVB Rewards checking account, you can get up to 1% cash back on all signature based transactions*. With an OVB Visa Rewards credit card, you can get points towards great things like travel rewards, gift cards and cool gear like an xbox**.
